Ten over Ten Nail Salon

When it comes to getting your nails done in a less toxic environment, it is not so easy finding a salon and when you do, it is cha-ching $$$.  If you are the obsessive toxin chica like I am, you resort to painting your own nails with your beloved safer nail polish or you bring that bottle to your cheap corner nail salon.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Annie turned me on to one of NYC’s best kept nail secrets…Ten Over Ten, a swoon-worthy nail salon in Tribeca.  In fact, Ten Over Ten just released their own nail polish line that is “5 Free”, free of formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, resin, and camphor (I highly recommend their formulations, by the way).

When you walk in, you are serenaded by staff members sporting chic uniforms, warm mineral tone walls, table trays adorned with amber glass bottles, large arched windows, and straw woven ottomans for staff to perch on while perfecting pedicures.  Ten Over Ten lets nails air dry; there are no skin damaging UV dryers in sight. It is so relaxing in this second floor space, even with the bustle of all the excited clientele, your heart rate is always set to chill mode.

The luxury doesn’t stop there. When was the last time you went to a salon and got to choose from a selection of Chanel and Nars nail polishes?  Hmmm…probably never.

Ten Over Ten carries Chanel (5 Free), Nars (3 Free), Essie (3 Free), Uslu Airlines (3 Free), RGB (3 Free), along with their own Ten Over Ten line (5 Free).

Oh, and a manicure is only $20, iPad included.  I’m now a Ten Over Ten lifer!

Must look into this! I did find a spa in Atlanta that only uses Sparitual and another that uses Zoya and Essie. I will be trying those! Thanks, and enjoy the pampering.

  4. I would love one of these in SF!! Amazing!
