Now is the season for apple-picking…even though I’m a bit resigned about departing from summer, I am excited about snacking on and baking these crisp gems in Autumn.  We all know the old adage of keeping the doctor away, but what can they do for our pretty skin?

  • Apples have Vitamin C, which is key to combatting free radicals that can prematurely age our skin
  • Apples also have Vitamin A, which prevents dry, flaky skin
  • Calcium in apples help regenerate new skin
  • Iron reduces the appearance of dark circles

While your snacking on your freshly picked apple, how about you save some for this apple skin toner.  This is a great toner to have since apple pectin is anti-aging, builds your UVB defenses, and combats acne.

Apple Toner

Cut an apple into cubes, removing the core, while keeping the skin on. Bring apple and 1/2 cup of purified water to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool. Once cool, strain liquid into a clean beauty bottle (glass preferred) and add 1/4 witch hazel.  Spray away to keep premature aging away!

And if any of you bake this recipe, you better invite me over! Holy yum!

How ’bout them apples?  What do you and your apples do?  Let us know in the comments below!

  1. OOh, can’t wait to try this. Tired of spending money on (basically H2O) toners.

  2. This is perfect because I’m going apple picking this weekend!
I can’t wait to make this! Is it 1/4 cup or witch hazel? it just says 1/4…

  3. I’ve been using lemons to create toner, but will have to try the apple variety for the changing season. Happy first day of Autumn!
