What Style Leap Would You Take?

A few days ago, Miley Cyrus really created a statement by transforming her look with an edgy short crop. I think her punk-chic crop looks great on her.  I’ve never paid much attention to Miley, but now I will since I’m so diggin’ on her hair.  I’ve always admired girls who rock their short dos. Which got me thinking…

This is a tough one because I feel like I’ve done it all.  I’ve had a pixie. I was a red head.  I was platinum blonde. I used to dress like Kate Moss in the CK Khaki’s ads of the 90’s…oh, and get this…my best friend and I used to dress like Kriss Kross and walk around town.  Yes, really.

So, I’m at a loss.  Maybe I will wear bright shadows on my eyes or stack my fingers and hands with lots of gold jewelry as a refresher for Fall? Perhaps make orange my go-to lip color?  Try to find a healthy bright blue mascara? These aren’t quite leaps, but more like new beauty dance steps…

How about you, Beauties?  What style leap or dance steps would you like to take?

Breathing Beauty

Last night we had an earthquake.  I abhor them.  The last one I had felt prior to this was ironically in NYC, of all places.  That time I was dining alfresco and my seat teetered to and fro on the sidewalk.  I thought it was my margarita doing the rocking…

This time I was in my bed catching up on my gossip sites (total vice, I know), and felt a quick horizontal shift.  I immediately tightened up and got anxious there would be more shaking coming.  My heart raced, I lost all color in my face, and above all felt completely vulnerable.

Here is what I didn’t do right after….take a deep breath.  This is something I need to get better at.  My boyfriend Andrew is great at reminding me, but I just keep on forgetting.

  • Decrease future acne and blemish breakouts with deep breaths. Deep breaths detoxify our bodies, therefore it improves the cleansing process, regulating hormone activity and the immune system.
  • Deep breathing is an anti-ager. Stress accelerates collagen loss.  Being in a calm state will not speed you into worry wrinkles.
  • Improve your complexion with breathing.  Deep breaths increase blood circulation, which improves your glowing disposition.

  • Stop the chest breathing and start to breathe like a baby. I learned this from Montel Williams at a Dr. Oz health summit. Your stomach should bellow out like a pot belly on the inhale, just as a baby does.  Just that technique alone fully engages the diaphragm downward allowing the lungs to expand 2x more than not fully engaging the diaphragm.

Now I just need to remember to take a few deep breaths on the next shake, rattle, and roll!

Do you have any breathing techniques that work for you? Soothe us in the comments below.
