Timo Weiland X Zoya Nail Trio Spring 2014

Goddess Huntress | Timo Weiland X Zoya Nail Polish Trio 2014

I have a special place in my heart for Timo Weiland.  Designer Alan Eckstein’s mother taught me how to make potato latkes one weekend in New York and then met Alan that day when he was an aspiring designer.  Soon after we had brunch at some awful place (my bad) in the East Village to chat about the industry and his vision…and the rest is history!

I’d advise you to pick up the limited edition Timo Weiland X Zoya nail polish trio. It is 5-free!

Here are a few of my favorite looks from the Timo Weiland show.

Backstage Beauty Spring 2014: To Point Or Not To Point?

Goddess Huntress | NYFW Spring 2014 Like Claws

The runways for New York Spring 2014 Fashion Week sported some pointed tips on the catwalk.  By tips, I mean nails.  Kate Spade, HONOR, and The Blonds showcased a sharp pointed nail that would make Karen Walker from Will & Grace ridiculously proud…

Organic By John Patrick Spring 2014

Organic By John Patrick Spring 2014

As I peruse the looks online that strolled down the runways on the official start to New York Fashion Week, I realize that organic, sustainable attire is getting a modern makeover and so is its stigma…or at least I’m finally accepting it.

See, I’m a fashion snob.  Having worked in the fashion industry for over a decade, the designer in me would cringe at the fiber name “hemp”, and still do.  Recently, I have seen some well-designed clothing that is organic/sustainable and I’m really thrilled that good design is merging with cleaner fibers and treatments, and that the fabric mills are creating interesting fabrics from natural fibers.

Organic by John Patrick‘s Spring 2014 collection did exactly just that today.

Here are a few of my favorite looks and a peek at John Patrick himself (above).

Backstage Beauty: CND For Alexander Wang

Goddess Huntress | CND For Alexander Wang Fall 2013

Alexander Wang, who will be debuting his first collection as the Creative Director of Balenciaga in a couple of weeks, showed a semi-matte buff nail for his Fall 2013 namesake collection at New York Fashion Week.

CND created this nude nail for Wang’s catwalk by applying Impossibly Plush nail color with a fan brush creating a feathered texture, added top coat, then buffed it to its matte finish, resulting in a nude nail with a depth resembling sheer rubber.

What do you think?  Would you try this semi-matte look?

CND is 3 free. Free of dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde.

Backstage Beauty: Priti NYC For Creatures Of Comfort

Goddess Huntress | Priti NYC for Creatures of Comfort

Fall fashion collections are all about harmonizing textures, to keep the warmth with an exciting touch.  At the Creatures Of Comfort Fall 2013 presentation yesterday, Priti NYC extended those familiar textures to an unfamiliar canvas…nails.

Priti NYC applied Cobweb Hen nail polish and then created a fuzzy texture by sprinkling flocking fibers.

What do you think?  Innovative or weird (borderline creepy)?

Priti NYC is 4 free. Free of dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde, and camphor.
